A Little Bit of Everything

Better late than never, I guess…I just saw a post on Diana Gabaldon’s website (from back in February!) that there is a new addition to the Outlander series in the works…OK, I haven’t bought a comic book…um, graphic novel…since I was about eight, but this one might be worth a peek…

The Yarn Harlot was here a couple of weeks ago…Pretty damn amazing, if you ask me, though it was obvious she was pretty tired and maybe even a teeny bit snippy (it’s not 200 miles!)…It was still really great to see her though, and of course I bought the book

It didn’t even seem like 4 hours of waiting…(OMGS I think we are Yarn Groupies! At least noone threw their undies at her…Just socks…Lots and lots of socks…)

We all ‘decorated’ in anticipation of her arrival…

The Chair! The Chair! The Holy Harlot Chair!!!

And of course we got our pictures taken with The Sock…

Then she talked…

And she stayed to sign everybody’s books…Poor tired thing! She signed…

And signed…

And signed…

Until it was our turn!!!

Sherri is now famous…I hope she won’t forget all her old friends…

Sleepycat brought her chocolate beer…

Everyone got their pictures taken with her, except me, because I am having a Bad Hair Year…

And I got a cookie!

Then it was back to the same ol’, same ol’ after all the Harlot Excitement…

While I was switching over the Blog, I got a mention by one of my very favorite Bloggers, Arjewtino…Of course, I didn’t link myself, since everything was ‘in disarray’ (to put it mildly)…Damn you, Murphy and your stupid Law!

Speaking of which…I will be putting up some pics of my Very Fabulous Trip to Buenos Aires very soon…Yes, very soon…It’s only been a month and a half, and I have not procrastinated nearly enough yet…*smirk*

Oh, and would someone mind mentioning to Hilary that it might be time to go home?  Because now she is just making me mad…

In Sock News, I finished a pair of 2 needle socks that are very cute, but due to a few gauge issues (*ahem*) tend to slip off after being worn for 10 minutes…*sigh*

But look! Here are some Real Socks! Just footie-sized, but Real Socks nonetheless!!

No gauge issues so far! And they are cute! I even learned to pick up stitches on the heel the right way, not my way…*snerk* I will be casting on the next one as soon as I figure out if I can Kitchener the toe (the pattern says just gather it, but I want a Real Sock Toe, not some nooby gathered toe!) No Second Sock Syndrome for me! No sir! (See procrastination issue mentioned above, and pray for me…)

Embarrassment

So today I decided that I would spend this evening online, doing more Bloggy and organizational stuff for my art crap, to keep my mind off the primaries until final results were in…I figure I know how it’s going to turn out anyway, but I will drive myself absolutely nuts if I keep checking the news, flipping to CNN, etc.

I moved the Blog a little while back, and messed about with it some; I was quite proud of myself this weekend, getting things a bit more into shape, a new page, etc…I kind of reorganized the links, moreso on the back end for myself…(I really don’t like the way I have to put the links into WordPress, so I have been putting off fixing the ones I have and updating with new ones…*scowl*)

Happened to notice that I had several more hits than usual…Quite a few more, in fact (OK, 21 hits for me in one day is phenomenal…*grin*) I figured that that was due to my promotional activities over the weekend, and gee whiz, if I’d known that updating Flickr and Ravelry and Etsy would have got me more hits I would have done it a long time ago!

Nope.

When I got my Ravelry invite back in July, I kind of lost my head and joined scads of groups, all of which were interesting to me, but few of which I participate in or even look at on a regular basis…Since I wanted to get my Blog all tricked out and organized-like, I joined the Blog Organization-Along way back in February, and then immediately began an intense program of procrastinating, punctuated with brief bouts of laziness…Well, they finished their ‘Along’, and posted links on the L & V Blog for all the Blogs that were redone and revamped and generally spiffied up…Mine was included on the list, even though I am not finished, and my links are just hanging out all over the place…*blushes*

I guess I do have something to do tonight now, don’t I?

Nothing To Do With Yarn

So I spent quite some time last night getting myself organized online…I set up a MySpace for my jewelery and arty stuff; found a great website called Indiepublic, that’s basically a Ravelry for crafty folks and got set up there…And started trying to mess around and create a few banners and icons and suchlike from pictures I have taken…

I’d forgotten how much I love Picnik…*huge grin*

OK, so I’ve been keeping my personal Blog and my fiber art Blog separate for some time now…But the only one I actually get around to updating with any real regularity anymore is the fibery stuff…So I figure it may be time for a merger of some sort…I’m still figuring out WordPress stuff, which is kind of on my nerves because I am so used to being able to f*ck with the HTML on Blogger (or should I say f*ck up the HTML on Blogger? Yeah…)

But if I make the leap, it gives me an excuse to post this picture…*evil grin*

Of course, I’ll keep my happy teaching blog separate, since the soccer moms really don’t need to hear the details of my Rollins obsession or which dorky book I’m reading at the moment…I save that up for you guys…*smirk*

Afghans for Afghans Sock Campaign Etc.

Check out the photos here!

So great…

I was looking at some of the photos from the other A4A campaigns a little while back, and I noticed in one photo there were a couple of mothers carrying their children…One of the kids looked to be about 5 or 6, a big kid, and I just thought “Geez, lady, put her down or you’ll do yourself an injury!” *grin* Then I saw that the child’s feet were bare, and pink from the cold, and in the background I could see there was still some snow on the ground…

The newest campaign is to make shawls for new mothers at a hospital in Kabul…I’m quite excited about this one, maybe because I’ve crocheted X number of the In Vest For Peace and need a bit of a change! *huge grin* I made an impulse purchase of some Baby Alpaca a couple of months ago, and couldn’t find a pattern I wanted to make with it (and I felt a little guilty buying $36 worth of alpaca without a Plan!)…I’ve already started the first row of the Wilshire Shawl pattern…Hooray!

It’s the Greencastle Fiber Event this Saturday!!!

Woo hoo!!!

I actually have a couple bucks this week, so get ready for some serious whining about all the damage I did to my supposed De-Stashing project…I don’t think I caused enough trouble there last year, so I am on a mission now…*evil grin*
